M: They bought up all the land Underneath Australia and New Zealand But they can’t get far enough from The Eschaton I hope I live to see the day When the planet burns Beneath the white hot glare Of my rocket boosters Brighter than the fading sun The universe will make A lovely little living room Orion is the only friend I need L: I was the only one To make it on his ship undetected Will he see more As he manifests his destiny A man claims his space Stakes his claim to space As I squeeze into this tight place An alien invader Hey, you can’t forget me I’m breathing this air too You are no friend but I still need you M: Oh what a wonder A galaxy of my own It wraps its starry arms around my home I’ll never forget It’s liberty I breathe To fill my lungs with freedom Fulfills my every need L: Hey, you can’t forget me I’m breathing this air too You are no friend but I still need you M: How could I forget It’s oxygen I breathe I’ll fill my lungs with solitude Fill my lungs with need

M: I Travelled to your home town San Francisco couldn’t be so big, right? So I looked up your address in a phone book And I turned up in the middle of the night You certainly seemed surprised, you were holding Something behind your back, I think a knife When I told you I was here to save your life You reluctantly let me come inside I told you how important you would be In the 2020 war against the machines And when I asked the year, and you told me “1955” And I realised I’d come back to the wrong time L: It’s been a hard one. I’ve been forgotten. It’s been a hard one. I’ve been forgotten. Here. I’m here. M: It’s been a hard one. You’re not forgotten. In Here. Here. L: I've waited here a long time Let him go The future’s mine to fix But what now My messenger He never came He’s caught up with her She has my name But wrong house, wrong year I’m here. I’m here. M: I was depending on you I thought only you could help I tried so hard to find you But I discovered someone else

There’s something you all know I wanna know too Will I be in this dark forever Alien, fearful, tired of feeling severed Just when I learn the moves you’ve changed one Try to stay loose but I come undone

L: Woke in my house, lights flicker in and out Moves through just like a breeze His footsteps without a body God he doesn’t see me Thought I might be alright But I’m as alone as I used to be What does he want from me And this was not the first time L&M: I cut a long story short I cut our long story short This old house is still a home to the children of the spiders that we swallowed in our sleep Now we don’t take our meals together Every night my sleepwalk’s woken My steps broken by the shadow in my bed of words unsaid L&M: I cut a long story short I cut our long story short L: You took hold of my sleep Want to scream it’s not a dream It’s the ghost of you Move through me like you used to do M: And if I die And if you die Will we both be still hanging around here Can a ghost haunt another ghost? L: They say you’ll fade in good time L&M: We cut a long story short We cut our long story

M: I can go - I can walk - wherever I want My face opens doors I’m pointing at my name on your list With a bony white finger It’s there, it’s “Destroyer of Worlds”, that’s me When I see a closed door I don’t see a barrier I see an opportunity To move fast and break stuff To blast it wide open So me and my friends can enjoy The remains of a door The remains of a building The remains of a city L: I can go - I can walk - wherever I want My love opens doors I’m pointing at my name on your list With a bony white finger It’s there, it’s “Corrupter of Hearts”, that’s me When I see a closed door I don’t see a barrier I see an opportunity To heal you til you love me To blast you wide open So I can build my nest and enjoy The remains of your mind The remains of your heart The remains of your body L&M We can go - we can walk - wherever we want We open all doors No need to hide our names from your list Our bony white fingers Collapsing all walls we see We don’t need no stinking horses To kick off this apocalypse And don’t you worry Don’t you worry We wrote our names down on your list Because we can go, we can walk Wherever we want M: We don’t need no stinking horses To bring on this apocalypse Don’t you worry, don’t you worry We put our names down on your list L&M Because we can go, we can walk Wherever we want

He was floundering Got himself into taxidermy Crime scene or natural death It’s not been determined yet They found him with his pockets full of bones He was floundering (In a sea of living things) Got himself into... (Way over his head,) Taxidermy (bringing things back from the dead) Crime scene or natural death (The forest doesn’t care) It’s not been determined yet (But all the people know...) They found him with his pockets full of bones He could never breath (In a sea of living things) The forest (Way over his head, set him free (bringing things back from the dead) What could be more natural (The forest doesn’t care) than an ending like this (But all the people know...) They found him with his pockets full of bones They found him in a forest full of bones He floundered in a forest full of bones Now he’s in nature’s pocket, out there in the forest, he’s just bones

about

This release is the first collaboration between Lily Sloane and Martin Austwick (aka Pale Bird)––a UK-based musician and podcaster.

All songs were written and recorded remotely in the final months of 2019, in response to song-writing prompts from a long-standing creative community called Song Fight, and mixed and mastered during the COVID months of 2020. The result is a mini-album of 7 songs, primarily duets, that explore themes of spookiness, power, and connection in seemingly apocalyptic times. From space colonization to cults to ghosts and an unexpected blend of electronica and folk, the surreal landscapes of this album are dark, witchy and playful.
